The Approval Layer: How Human-in-the-Loop Control Works

The approval layer is the gate between an AI agent's draft and a real write to your CRM, email, or customer. Here is how Mindlyft's ASTRA decides what needs a human, and why every write stays reversible.

What this covers

Draft, then gate

Agents propose an action; the layer decides if it needs a human.

Gate by consequence

Reversible writes auto-run; customer-facing writes wait for a yes.

Scoped identity

Each agent gets its own scoped access, not a shared god-key.

Reversible receipts

Every write is logged and can be rolled back.

01

What problem does an approval layer solve?

When AI agents write to a CRM or email customers, the failure mode is quiet: an agent sets the wrong stage, creates a duplicate, or sends an off-brand message, and the pipeline your forecast runs on is corrupted before anyone notices. Autonomy is fast but unaccountable. The approval layer keeps the speed of agents while making every consequential action a human decision.

02

How does gating by consequence work?

Actions are sorted by what they can break, not by what they are called. A reversible internal write, enriching a record or drafting a note, can run on its own because it is cheap to undo. A write that changes a system of record or reaches a customer, a stage change, a sent email, a merged duplicate, requires a person to approve it first. The rule is the consequence of the action, which is more robust than a per-task allowlist.

03

Why does every write need to be reversible?

Approval reduces bad writes but does not eliminate them, so the layer assumes some will slip through and makes them cheap to undo. Every executed action lands in a tamper-evident, SHA-256 audit trail with enough context to reverse it. Reversibility is what lets a team adopt agents without betting the pipeline on the agent being right every time.

04

Is the approval layer tied to one AI model?

No. The layer is vendor-neutral. It sits between whichever models or agents you run and your enterprise tools, so you can bring your own Claude or GPT and still get one consistent gate, one audit trail, and one place to set the rules.

FAQ

What is an approval layer for AI GTM agents?

It is a control that holds an AI agent's action for human review before it writes to your CRM, email, or customer. Reversible internal actions can run automatically; consequential ones wait for a person.

Does the approval layer slow the team down?

It gates by consequence, so the high-volume reversible work runs without waiting, and only the actions that can corrupt the pipeline or reach a customer need a yes. The goal is oversight without a bottleneck.

What is ASTRA?

ASTRA is Mindlyft's agentic system that runs revenue acceleration. It is the approval and decision layer described here, running on the model you choose with an audit trail on every action.

Agents do the work. You approve what reaches the customer.

Mindlyft is the approval and audit layer over your AI GTM agents: every customer-facing action drafted, human-approved, reversible, and logged. We engineer the first workflow free.
