On paid plans there is a 6 hour configuration window after connecting, use it to map stages and fields and set pull and push behavior before syncing enables automatically. The common issues afterward are mundane and documented. Apollo has multiple phone types and each must be mapped to its own Salesforce field or those numbers never arrive. Address syncs only update the fields Apollo sends, so a country change can strand an old city and state. Mapping Apollo's created by field to Salesforce CreatedById requires the Set Audit Fields permission or record creation fails. When something does not sync, Apollo's integration error log names the failed record and the reason, including blocks by Salesforce duplicate rules.

The data quality catch: enrichment, auto-fill, and field overwrite
Apollo's CRM enrichment updates existing Salesforce records with demographic, firmographic, and technographic data, manually, on a schedule, or in real time as records sync. Whether that helps or hurts depends entirely on data writing rules you set per field. Auto-fill writes Apollo data only when the Salesforce field is empty. Overwrite replaces whatever is in the field whenever Apollo has a different value, whether your existing value was stale or was a hand verified entry your team trusts. And there is a precedence rule worth reading twice, manual actions win. If a user manually enriches a field from Apollo's CRM enrichment screen, Apollo pushes that update to Salesforce even if you deactivated auto-fill and overwrite for that field. So the honest question for every mapped field is simple. Is Apollo's database more trustworthy than what is already in this field, and if not, that field should never be set to overwrite.

Does the Salesforce Apollo io integration create duplicates?
Apollo's own docs are direct about this, Apollo mirrors Salesforce. If Salesforce contains duplicate leads, contacts, or accounts, those duplicates appear in Apollo, and if duplicates are created in Apollo and pushed, Salesforce gets the same duplicates. When an enrichment source overwrites a verified direct dial with a stale one, or attaches a contact to a randomly matched account, the record still looks complete, so nobody rechecks it.
